One of the world’s largest manufacturers of cargo handling machinery, Germany-based Liebherr Group, has inaugurated its office in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, says the company’s press release of today. The new office is a subsidiary of Liebherr-Argentina S.A., founded in 2004 and employing currently a total of 58 employees.

From the newly setup branch Liebherr intends to expand its activities in Argentina and Uruguay.

The opening of the new office of 314 sq. m. in the heart of the port city of Buenos Aires marks another chapter in the history of Liebherr-Argentina S.A., as it offers opportunities for current and future growth, primarily in the product areas of port and harbour cranes and mobile cranes. The Buenos Aires office consists of 17 employees, of which 11 are engaged in sales and service of port and harbour cranes and 4 are responsible for the mobile cranes area.

With the new office Liebherr not only strengthens its presence in Argentina, but also takes over the entire sales and service activities of Liebherr mobile cranes in Uruguay.

“My greatest wish is that this new office becomes too small very quickly”, stated Daniel Haag, Managing Director of Liebherr-Argentina S.A., during the opening ceremony. “We are optimistic about the future and are expecting further growth in Argentina and the neighbouring countries we look after from here.”

The Buenos Aires office is the second location of Liebherr-Argentina S.A. Its head office is situated in San Juan in the west of the country, close to the Veladero mine. There the company repairs and provides maintenance services for Liebherr mining equipment. Since 2006 components for mining excavators have also been produced there in the company’s own workshop.
