The Danish company A. Henriksen Shipping A/S has signed a contract for a new multi-purpose Liebherr mobile harbour crane, type LHM 550, announced today’s press release of Liebherr Maritime Cranes. The new crane with a total lifting capacity of 144 tonnes will be the largest mobile harbour crane in the Copenhagen area and at Zealand.
Established in Copenhagen in 1934, A. Henriksen Shipping A/S offers a wide range of services within shipping, transport and warehousing. The company also provides stevedoring services at its terminals in the ports of Frederiksværk and Hundested, north of Copenhagen, efficiently handling most types of cargo including bulk, break bulk, ro-ro, heavy lift and project cargo.
The two companies have been successfully co-operating for years. In 2007, A. Henriksen Shipping bought their first Liebherr mobile harbour crane LHM 400 for their terminal in Frederiksværk. And now, following ten years of satisfaction with the crane’s reliability and performance, the company has opted for another Liebherr product in order to boost its terminal productivity. The new LHM 550 will shortly be delivered to Frederiksværk port, where A. Henriksen Shipping is loading and discharging some 400 ships per year.
The new crane will be used to handle steel slabs with a total weight of up to 61 tonnes each. With a maximum lifting capacity of up to 144 tonnes the new machine will be also employed for heavy lift and project cargo operations.
Henriksen Shipping A/S CEO Teddy Folmer commented on the investment: “The important reasons for choosing a Liebherr mobile harbour crane once again have been the good partnership with Liebherr, their use of latest technology and the high quality of their products”.
Not only the product itself, but especially the service has played an essential role in the decision-making, as Teddy Folmer adds: “The whole service concept, which implies short reaction times and fast delivery of spare parts when needed, positively influenced our decision. Together with the Liebherr service agreement based on the manufacturer’s market leading service concept, an economic, stable and safe operation of the crane is ensured for the years to come.”
