Container ports of Ukraine grow by 27.8%

The container throughput of Ukrainian ports have grown by 27.8% in January-August, 2016, up to 402.35 th. TEU.

The biggest increase was demonstrated by import volumes, +33.2%, up to 199.61 th. TEU. Export cargo handling grew by 28.4% (180.68 th. TEU). Transit volumes dropped by 14.3% (20.63 th. TEU). Cabotage rocketed from 124 TEU in January-August, 2015 to 1.43 th. TEU in 2016.

The largest Ukrainian container port of Odessa handled 316.91 th. TEU (+31.7%). The throughput of other ports: Yuzhny – 54.95 th. TEU (+59.1%), Illichivsk (recently renamed to Chernomorsk) – 30.38 th. TEU (-20.4%), Kherson – 14 TEU (-98.3%).
