Solvo, the leading Russian developer of IT solutions for ports, container terminals and warehouses, has implemented its terminal operating system SOLVO.TOS at Bronka Port container terminal in Saint Petersburg, Russia, thus finalising a five-year project, informs the company’s press service.

The port of Bronka (owned and operated by LLC Fenix) is a new deepwater, state-of-the-art container and Ro-Ro facility constructed as a greenfield project in Lomonosov, 55km west of Saint-Petersburg. The port was opened in December 2015 and is expected to evolve into one of the key cargo handling areas in the Russian Baltics.

Its container terminal can accommodate Post-Panamax vessels to be handled by Liebherr quay cranes: 4 STS cranes and a mobile harbour crane LHM-800. The yard equipment includes 10 RTG cranes, terminal tractors, reachstackers and forklifts. Its current container capacity is 1.45 mln TEU and can be expanded up to 1.9 mln TEU.

For Solvo it was a special project, as the TOS implementation was carried out along with the port’s launch into commercial operation and the very first container that arrived at the port was already handled in Solvo.TOS.

In its project, LLC Fenix contracted the German company Hamburg Port Consulting GmbH for consultation and expert support, whereas Solvo, with about 20 years of experience in developing and implementing TOS solutions at major container terminals in Russia, was chosen as general contractor for software deployment and creation of IT-infrastructure at the terminal.

Initially, Solvo carried out audit and planning of wireless networks, developed a gateway between TOS and third party hardware and software.

Solvo.TOS was configured with consideration of Bronka’s yard, vessel, rail and road transport processing. Apart from the standard functionality, the solution includes Solvo.WEB portal for cargo forwarders and shipping line agents; the terminal equipment management module to optimize operations of cargo-handling equipment; the empty container depot module to automatically track empty and unnumbered containers; reefer container storage zone management. Solvo.TOS is integrated with the customs information system to provide data on import boxes and with the onboard Konecranes system to automate processes of container positioning and precision placement in the stack. Moreover, Solvo.TOS is integrated with Bronka Port’s in-house ERP system to manage the parking lot and to track gate-in / gate-out movements of trucks.

This project has become a milestone for Solvo as a system integrator. At its full capacity of 1.9 TEU, Bronka will be the biggest customer of Solvo in terms of cargo turnover at the Saint Petersburg region. The terminal is confident to handle the volume with the help of Solvo.TOS which ensures streamlined operation without any downtime.
